Hello to all,

Since my team is part of this whole clusterf*&k, I want to weigh in on things from my perspective.

First, the facts.  Our game was tied.  Our league already has rules in place for breaking ties.  These are outlined in the league rules that we all agreed upon before playing in this league.  We all agreed to them. Those are the rules we should abide by rather than trying to institute some other policy in hindsight.

Our league has never considered any other tiebreaker system, so to try to institute one now in hindsight is truly the most unfair way of settling this.  The reason you pick starters and leave the other guys on the bench is, presumably, because you play the guys you feel give you the best chance of winning.  So, to look at non-starters for any form of tie-breaker is unfair, under any circumstances unless provided for in the league rules.  They are non-starters for a reason, and to invoke their points is absurd.  Changing it for next year is the only solution, and my suggestion, for preventing this from happening again.

In every other circumstance where we have found an existing rule to be deficient, we have always, EVERY single time, resigned ourselves to changing policy next year, but keeping the existing current rules in place, in fairness to all.  How can any of you propose changing that for any reason now?  I feel badly this has happened as well.  I was on the site 30 minutes prior to kick-off and ready to start another kicker, but didn't.  Of course, that would have avoided this as well.  I was top seed because the RULES designated that.  The reason I was the higher seed was that, according to the rules, I deserved it.  Why should I be punished because a non-starting player didn't perform well?  If we abide by the rules, then I should still win the game, by the rules!!!!  To try and change that now is an abomination, and truly, the most unfair way to decide a winner.  And if any of you all know me, if the situation were reversed, and the rules were invoked as written, I would deal with it and suck it up.

A coin flip is also unfair.  It is based solely on chance, and is not in the rules and certainly has no application here.

Jim, you have been the biggest advocate of never changing rules during the season, even when we had a majority of owners trying to change a scoring rule or otherwise, you were the one that said we should never change rules during a season, as that would be unfair to some owners who agreed to play under a certain set of rules.  You should apply the same logic in this situation to preserve your and league integrity.  I am a sportsman, and a fair-gamer, and that, above all, is the reason to not change league rules now.

If you all put yourselves in my position, I am sure you would feel much like me.

I would like to hear all of your comments about this.

Joe
